About Us

K9S is a family run business, owned by Richard Newman, a retired Police Officer.

Richard is a Dog Trainer who specialises in Working Breeds, such as Labradors, Spaniels, German Shepherds and so on. Richard served with Essex Police for eighteen years before he was medically retired with an exceptional record of service. 

Whilst serving as a Police Officer, Richard volunteered with a local dog rescue, this is where his passion took hold and he helped rehabilitate so many dogs, focusing on the hard ones; who people had given up on; or didn't have the knowledge to deal with due to the dogs natural working abilities or driven traits. With an understanding mind, correct stimulation and a balanced lifestyle, the dogs were given the best opportunity to deal with daily life. Richard obtained so much satisfaction from this experience, that he knew when he retired, this would be his future career. Due to his medical retirement, this career was brought forward and K9S Pet Services was born.

Richard condition meant that he required an Assistance Dog to help deal with daily life, but sadly no organisations were able to assist, or the waiting lists proved just too long. Richard progressed his knowledge to training his own Assistance Dog and then offered this service to help customers with their various medical conditions and make their lives better. There are now K9S Pet Services Assistance Dogs within the community who help their handlers with medical conditions such as Autism, PTSD, Heart Conditions, Seizure Alert, Mobility and Hearing. Each dog has been trained to the Handlers own requirements over a period of time.
